Status of Church Services – as at 8 May 2020

The Commonwealth Government has announced that the places of worship will be opened to the public in three staged steps.  Each State government will determine when the easing of restrictions will commence.

The following restrictions apply to religious services including weddings and funerals.

Step 1

Weddings may have up to 10 guests in addition to the couple and the celebrant.

Funerals may have up to 20 mourners indoors and 30 outdoors.

Religious gatherings may have up to 10 attendees.

Step 2

Weddings may have up to 20 guests in addition to the couple and the celebrant.

Step 3

Allow gatherings of up to 100 people Every gathering must record contact details

Until full access is allowed Dioceses will be encouraging the provision of services and prayer resources online or by other communication methods.
