Archbishop of Sydney elected
The Dean of Sydney, the Very Reverend Kanishka Raffel, has been elected as Archbishop of Sydney, the first person from a non-European background to hold the position.

I was saddened to hear of the death of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh and join with people in the United Kingdom and Commonwealth in mourning his loss. I thank God for his life of service.
Primate’s Statement in response to the Appellate Tribunal Opinions
The Anglican Church’s highest legal authority, the Appellate Tribunal, has released two opinions on church legislation proposed by the Diocese of Wangaratta and the Diocese of Newcastle related to the blessing of same-sex marriages.
