The Anglican Church of Australia recently hosted its second Faith, Hope & Love Conference in Melbourne (18–19 August 2025), bringing together leaders, advocates, and survivors to address domestic and family violence. The event featured a Men’s Summit, Communities that Care training, and national sessions on the Ten Commitments, equipping the Church to respond faithfully and build safer communities.
Building on the outcomes of the landmark National Anglican Family Violence Research Project, the conference provided dioceses, parishes, and faith leaders with practical tools to prevent violence, support survivors, and create safe and flourishing communities.
Highlights of the 2025 program included:
- A Men’s Summit engaging men in cultural and behavioral change.
- Communities that Care accreditation workshops equipping clergy and lay leaders in bystander intervention.
- National Ten Commitments sessions tracking progress and discussing how to make long-term change
- Plenary addresses and panels featuring national experts, practitioners, survivors, and theologians.
The Faith, Hope & Love Conference demonstrated the Church’s commitment to the Ten Commitments for Prevention and Response to Domestic and Family Violence, adopted nationally in 2022. The event also marked the launch of new training, resources, and initiatives aimed at cultural change across all 23 dioceses. You can read the Ten Commitments here.
