Conscientious Objections to Military Service

Movers Bishop of Gippsland

That this Synod affirm:

(a) That those who sincerely object on grounds of conscience to military service should be heard by a special
tribunal as is done in Britain;

(b) That the present practice of punishing refusal to register by preventing employment be stopped; and

(c) That the Federal Government be asked to allow for conscientious objectors an alternative form of national
service, e.g. In constructive work of a civilian nature in Australia, Papua/New Guinea or South east Asia.
