Diaconate as a distinctive ministry

That General Synod

i) affirms the Diaconate as a distinctive ministry within the three-fold order of this Church;

ii) affirms that the Diaconate should be open to women as well as men;

iii) calls on diocesan Bishops to develop this ministry in their dioceses.
