Disarmament

Movers Bishop of Bendigo

That this General Synod bearing in mind the escalating expenditure on and trade in arms by many countries calls upon

(i) the members of this Church to take every opportunity to ensure that Australia does not contribute to the
increasing danger of a Third World War;

(ii) the Government of Australia as a middle power to intensify its efforts in the cause of disarmament to the
point that both east and west have an equal balance of vulnerability and the establishment of such world justice as may lead to lasting peace;

(iii) the Government of Australia to further increase its financial commitment to overseas aid and to the support
of United Nations initiatives for a New International Economic Order.
