That this Synod:
affirms that every human being is made in the image of God and has inherent dignity and worth; and that it is essential to protect the human rights that reflect this inherent dignity of all people, especially of the most vulnerable;
notes the June 2009 submission of the General Synod Standing Committee of the Anglican Church of Australia to the National Human Rights Consultation;
supports Commonwealth Government’s initiatives to increase funding and efforts to promote human rights education, to provide a statement of compatibility with human rights when introducing new legislation and to set up a Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights to scrutinise legislation for compliance with human rights.
