Inquiry into Controversial Matters

The following motion having been moved by the Reverend J.B. Minchin –

“That if practicable within existing budgetary projections the Standing Committee appoint and equip a suitable person or small task force:

(a) to identify controversial matters of faith and order that are, or should be, before the Anglican Church of
Australia in its missionary and ecumenical setting;
(b) to formulate procedures and mechanisms which will encourage all levels of the ACA to treat internal conflict
and divergence over such matters from the standpoint of gospel truth and ethics;
(c) in this regard to pay special attention to the role of the church and secular media; and
(d) to report back to the Standing Committee by the end of 1993, so that findings can be debated throughout
the national church before the next ordinary session of General Synod.”

That the motion be referred to the Standing Committee.
