That this Synod

i) commends the report of the Lay Readers’ Commission and in particular the draft canon of the Lay Readers’
Commission to the various dioceses for their study and comment;

ii) recommends to Diocesan Bishops the Commissioning Service for Lay Ministers which is appended to the report;

iii) refers the report to any and all General Synod and Diocesan Committees working on the future of the
Diaconate within this Church;

iv) asks the Convenor of the Commission to receive and monitor any reports on the draft canon and if
thought appropriate take steps to propose modifications to the canon in the light of those reports.
