National Anglican Centre

Movers Bishop of Canberra and Goulburn

That this Synod

(a) directs the Council of the National Anglican Centre to take no further action with respect to the designing,
construction or development of a National Anglican Centre in the ACT;

(b) requests the Standing Committee to bring to the next General Synod a canon to repeal the National Anglican
Centre Canon 1985;

(c) encourages the Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn to develop the primary site;

(d) expresses the view that the site should be developed with the site of establishing a centre providing facilities
for research, study, training and office space and to be a gathering place for witness and worship on national occasions, available to the whole Church of God in Australia, for empowering a Christian witness in the national capital and to the life of the Australian community; and

(e) requests the Standing Committee to co-operate with the Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn, in such manner
as the Standing Committee deems appropriate in the development of the primary site with a view to associating the national Church in the fulfilment of that aim.
