National Superannuation Scheme

Movers Hankin, G.H.

In view of the Commonwealth Government’s announced intention of introducing a National Superannuation Scheme, this Synod directs that when such scheme is promulgated, Standing Committee appoints a suitably qualified, independent advisor to critically examine the scheme and to make recommendations to Standing Committee on

(i) action necessary to ensure that clergy obtain maximum possible benefits from adoption of the proposed
Commonwealth scheme; and

(ii) the form of supplementary superannuation, if any, needed or desirable to meet the special needs of the
clergy, as, for example, housing after retirement.
